I am a Crazy Woman
I am in the process of redesigning my blog. So this week, I’m featuring blogs from the past year. This post originally appeared August 31, 2009.
My name is Sally, and I am a crazy woman. I set out to do the impossible, fail, and become distraught it didn’t work out.
Last week, it was my turn to provide snacks for my daughter’s kindergarten class. Diva decided a while back that the morning snack would be apples and caramel dip. That left me with the decision of what to bring for the afternoon snack. I wanted to provide something cute. So I ran across a newsletter I subscribe to and found snack ideas. The first idea is a School Bus made of crackers.
Of course I woke up late that morning, and I had to separate bags of sliced apples into individual baggies for the children, and scoop out caramel into individual cups. This left me no time to assemble cream cheese-covered graham crackers with round and square crackers to resemble little school buses.
I decided to assemble the school buses at work during lunch and bring them later. The teacher was agreeable to that idea, so I was all set. At lunch, I established a little assembly line system and proceeded to … break a pack of graham crackers and break my first school bus by attempting to attach the wheels. Recognizing my defeat, I surrendered and separated all the crackers into individual baggies and delivered them to the classroom.
Everyone was looking forward to it. I disappointed an entire kindergarten class. How disgraceful am I? I promised to find a cracker that wouldn’t easily break. I may do rice crispy treats instead. I have a couple weeks to devise a new plan. If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them. But first I have to scrape myself off the floor after being hit with all this Mommy Guilt.
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a mother. God blessed me with three wonderful children, who keep me going. My husband and I have been married for 12 years, and he’s my best friend.
