I Don’t Do
There are many things around the house that I will do. I may not WANT to do them, but I will. Many, many things.
But there are some things I just won’t do, and these duties fall onto James’ shoulders. His great big shoulders.
1. I don’t kill spiders. I’m terrified of spiders, and I’m afraid if I kill one, the others will seek revenge. Yes, the others.
2. I don’t pull teeth. It creeps me out. It’s not the blood. I can deal with blood. It’s the tugging, the dreadful tugging.
3. Opening the mail. I’m working on this, but I haven’t opened the mail in years. After the anthrax scare a few years ago, I couldn’t bring myself to open the mail anymore. I know this is a problem, and I’m working on getting past this. It mainly involves gloves.
4. Cut the grass. We have a guy who cuts our grass now. In fairness James used to cut our lawn but it would take an entire day. So we’d just rather pay someone who can get it done in 30 minutes and enjoy more time together. I wouldn’t have cut the grass under any circumstances. I don’t do sweat.
5. I don’t go in the attic. I went once and ended in a full-blown panic attack. I’m not going again – ever. I’m so afraid of heights I don’t even like standing on a chair. The attic proved too much.
I appreciate my wonderful husband who does the things I don’t – even when he doesn’t understand why I won’t.

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a mother. God blessed me with three wonderful children, who keep me going. My husband and I have been married for almost 12 years, and he’s my best friend.
