Don't Wake The Kids

I'm a Supermom and so are you!

Weekly Wrap Up

January9

Manchild Walking Around Strapped to His Carseat

My focus for Friday, Saturday and Sunday was cleaning every room in the house. And laundry. Lots of laundry. The kids enjoyed their last days of vacation playing outside.

I took Manchild with me to get lunch on Sunday. I heard him playing in the backseat. The one thing that amazes me about boys is that everything becomes something else, even their hands. I hear MC say, “Good job, boys!” When I asked him who was talking to, he replied, “My fingers.” Well duh, Mom.

Manchild stated that all kids love Mario videos (Mario Brothers) but not girls.

We finally got Jumpshot to do all his homework in aftercare. Of course it involved being able to go to a birthday party if he got it all done.

It’s getting cold here. The lows are dipping below freezing. As a native of Louisiana, I don’t have winter gear. It was a good reason to go shopping.

Tuesday night, as I was just settling in for the night, here comes Diva, half-asleep.

Mom: Whatcha need, baby?

Diva: I need you to paint it.

Mom: Paint what?

Diva: I just need you to paint it.

Mom: OK baby (chuckling). I’ll paint it. But you need to go to sleep first.

And I tuck her in back to her bed. She smiles. The next morning she doesn’t remember it and insists I was the one who was dreaming.

Friday I spent the day with the kids at home because school was cancelled. I couldn’t sleep in too much because I had a work errand to run and drag the kids with me. But it didn’t take too long so it all worked out. We got to see a puddle iced over, which the kids thought was neat. Ice is neat.

Next we went to Party City, which I love, to get some cake decorating supplies. I’m going to attempt to make a birthday cake for a friend of mine. I’m a little nervous. I’ve never made a cake for someone else. I’ll post pictures of it when it’s finished so you all can judge me. :)

But the best part of the day was taking a nap with my little one snuggled up with me on the couch. So precious.

Enjoy your weekend and have a good next week!

Don’t Wake the Kids is a blog featuring Sally and sometimes James, a husband and wife team, talking about their life – the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Together, they will put their life on display, imperfections and all, with the hope that you will find it uplifting, entertaining, and amusing.

About Sally

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a mother. God blessed me with three wonderful children, who keep me going. My husband and I have been married for 12 years, and he’s my best friend.

I work full-time outside of the home and try to volunteer as much as I can at my children’s school. I love to bake and accidentally found out about cakepops, and I can’t stop making them. I love to scrapbook, when I find the time. I also like to crochet, but I’ve only made scarves. I use it to pass the time while waiting at the doctor’s office or practice or for meetings to start.

I try to have it all, and I hope my blog lends support to other moms who mess up, want to pull out their hair, but who wouldn’t want to trade their lives for anything – just like me.

People ask me how do I do it all. I am always flattered by this, and my answer is always the same – I don’t sleep. I only get a lot done after everyone falls asleep. James came up with the name of our blog Don’t Wake The Kids because of my nocturnal nature.
