Don't Wake The Kids

Number One Secret of SuperMoms

Weekly Wrap-Up

January30

Can you tell I’ve been a little busy? I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. I haven’t forgotten. I’ve just been falling asleep earlier than usual. Yay! So it looks like I have to rearrange my writing schedule.

The whole state of Louisiana is celebrating the Saints clenching the NFC Division Championship. Jumpshot is very excited about the team going to the Super Bowl. He’s on the hunt for some Saints gear. I should probably put up some fleur-de-lis decorations as well.

The rest of the week is a blur, so let’s see what I can remember.

I realized a few days ago how far Manchild’s vocabulary has come. He also likes to sing and knows a lot of songs on the radio. Tick tock on the clock…. Yeah. His new annoying habit is pinching my nose when he wants my attention. I have no idea why he does this, but it does get my attention.

Diva and I spent days studying for her phonogram test. We’re up to the double-letter ones, and for some reason or, aw, and wh were giving her problems. She told me it was because she hadn’t committed them to her long-term memory yet. I was floored. She’s in kindergarten! Her teacher is good. She’s also starting to decode and read. It’s awesome!

Jumpshot is having some rough days. My worry levels have increased this week. He had to write an essay about problems kids his age face, and his topic was about bullying. I was heartbroken. He’s always had an issued being picked on because he’s so passive, but it wasn’t until I read his essay did I realize how big of a problem it’s become. It’s progressed from verbal teasing to getting kicked, hit, scratched and such.

I’ve already had one conversation with school administration, so now I’m on the hunt for information to bring to them to help them solve this problem. It’s mostly in aftercare, where the supervision is minimal and discipline lacking. So if you have any information that I might find useful, please share in the comments below or email me at sally@dwtkcast.com.

I hope you have a great week next week, and thanks for reading!

Don’t Wake the Kids is a blog featuring Sally and sometimes James, a husband and wife team, talking about their life – the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Together, they will put their life on display, imperfections and all, with the hope that you will find it uplifting, entertaining, and amusing.

About Sally

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a mother. God blessed me with three wonderful children, who keep me going. My husband and I have been married for almost 12 years, and he’s my best friend.

I work full-time outside of the home and try to volunteer as much as I can at my children’s school. I love to bake and accidentally found out about cakepops, and I can’t stop making them. I love to scrapbook, when I find the time, but I’m still intimidated by 12×12 layouts. I also like to crochet, but I’ve only made scarves. I use it to pass the time while waiting at the doctor’s office or practice or for meetings to start.

I try to have it all, and I hope my blog lends support to other moms who mess up, want to pull out their hair, but who wouldn’t want to trade their lives for anything – just like me.

People ask me how do I do it all. I am always flattered by this, and my answer is always the same – I don’t sleep. I only get a lot done after everyone falls asleep. James came up with the name of our blog Don’t Wake The Kids because of my nocturnal nature.
