Sunday afternoon, Manchild jumps in my lap and declares he wants a nap. Say what? James set him up on the loveseat, and within minutes, he was sound asleep.
As I’m hanging up clothes in my bedroom, I hear from across the hall Diva informing Manchild that it’s her quite time. Diva loves her quiet time.
Monday night, as she’s getting out of the tub, Diva declares she’s not a normal child, she’s a crazy child.
Later that same evening, Jumpshot asks if I could stay up that night. “Well not all night,” he says, to look for the missing Bakugan he got for Christmas.
Manchild’s current refrain: “I wanna watch Mario videos” and “I wanna play Wii Sports.”
James watching the Bears, “C’mon, Forte! Stop being a girl and run!”
Diva was having a hard time with an online video game. In her frustration, she jumps from her chair and throws her hands in the air and screams, “We’re all doomed!”
Jumpshot is enjoying his new cell phone. It has a video camera. This week, he made a video of him and his friend lip-syncing to the Chipmunks cover of “I Gotta Feeling.” It was hilarious!
New Year’s Day was spent watching James watch LSU lose the Capital One Bowl.
This afternoon, the kids on the street decided to play at our house today. At one point, I walked out front to check on them. And what do I see? Manchild is in the wagon rolling down the driveway and into the yard across the street! I yelled out, “What the hell are you doing?” in front of my next-door neighbor’s mother. As she went inside, I distinctly heard my name. Sorry about that, Mary!
After a couple warnings to everyone that playtime would end if anyone or anything rolled down the driveway again, children were sent home. I guess the sloping driveway is just too much temptation.
Diva voiced her objection — rather loudly — to my insistence that her idea of camping out on the driveway so she could see the neighborhood fireworks was not going to happen.
Manchild has unearthed the Nintendo DS! It has been missing for months. And the appropriate charger has been found as well. I’m listening to them playing Mario Cart.
The head colds are finally starting to release their hold on the family. My voice is still raspy, and I’m coughing, but at least I don’t feel bad. Manchild still has his runny nose, and Jumpshot is still coughing too.
