Don't Wake The Kids

I'm a Supermom and so are you!

Mommy and Daddy Meltdown

May27

010 My first day home with all three kids. You’d think it would be like a Saturday or Sunday. But today had a different feel to it. We didn’t do anything, but it’s not like we do anything on the weekends anyway. Why was today so different?

It was nothing but a stream of demands and fighting all day. Add to that personal frustrations, and I was just a frazzled mess.

Then poor Dad, who’s been at work all day, comes home to a frazzled wife and a pack of wild kids. Add to that his personal frustrations, and another parental meltdown ensues.

So what to do?

We left the kids inside and sat outside to catch our breath. We made each other laugh. First he made me laugh because he’s funny, then I made him laugh because I think I’m funny. Then we decided to gather the kids in the car to get take-out and let me run in the store to get a few necessities.

We came home, ate, worked a little on our summer business project (more on that to come), get the kids to take a bath, and get them to bed. Of course we had to end the day with an injury. Manchild conked his nose on the bookshelf in his room. No blood, but there will be a bruise.

I got a hot shower, and now I’m here enjoying the sweet snoring sounds from the room next door and venting to you.

I think my mistake was that I didn’t have a plan, but I have one for tomorrow. Let’s hope it goes better.

I feel your pain, yesterday was the first full day of summer vacation for my 2 and they were fighting before 10 am. So frustrating!! I told them they had to stay in their rooms until they were completely clean :)

Don’t Wake the Kids is a blog featuring Sally and sometimes James, a husband and wife team, talking about their life – the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Together, they will put their life on display, imperfections and all, with the hope that you will find it uplifting, entertaining, and amusing.

About Sally

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a mother. God blessed me with three wonderful children, who keep me going. My husband and I have been married for 12 years, and he’s my best friend.

I work full-time outside of the home and try to volunteer as much as I can at my children’s school. I love to bake and accidentally found out about cakepops, and I can’t stop making them. I love to scrapbook, when I find the time. I also like to crochet, but I’ve only made scarves. I use it to pass the time while waiting at the doctor’s office or practice or for meetings to start.

I try to have it all, and I hope my blog lends support to other moms who mess up, want to pull out their hair, but who wouldn’t want to trade their lives for anything – just like me.

People ask me how do I do it all. I am always flattered by this, and my answer is always the same – I don’t sleep. I only get a lot done after everyone falls asleep. James came up with the name of our blog Don’t Wake The Kids because of my nocturnal nature.
