Don't Wake The Kids

And Other Rules for Motherhood

Hello, Autumn!

Autumn is my favorite season, despite including my birthday. I made a Wordle that includes all the things I love about fall. Click on the image to see the full-sized version.

AutumnIf you’d like instructions on how to make a Wordle of your own, skip on over to my other blog Sally’s Desk for a step-by-step guide.

Hope you’re having a wonderful fall day!

Don’t Go It Alone

124In my humble opinion, mothers need a community. A group of like-minded moms to share and commiserate with. Motherhood is a journey only understood by those who have embarked on the path. OK, that’s my Yoda moment for today.

Mothers are busy. There’s no doubt about that. I preach about taking time for yourself all the time. But it’s also important to gather a bunch of moms and spend some time together. There’s nothing like commiserating over potty training follies and sharing our successes and getting advice. Oh and the laughs!

How do you find your community of moms? That’s tricky. I remember not having my community until my first child started pre-K. Those were some lonely years. Maybe there are other moms in the neighborhood, or at work, or church. Heck start your own group. There’s a mom out there who would ever be so grateful!

If you’re the shy type like I am, then I suggest reading mom blogs. You’re very likely to find one written by a mom going through the very same thing you are. Have a child who’s a picky eater? Or a child with special needs? There’s a blog out there I promise.

Come back tomorrow, and I’ll introduce you to some of my favorite mom blogs. These ladies are amazing!
