Sunday Share Time
Welcome to this week’s Sunday Share Time.
I am unbelievably excited about something. I saw this on the web, and now it’s on the top of my wish list: Cricut Cake! Cricut has developed a cutting machine that will cut fondant so you can decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pies…you get the idea. How AWESOME is that?
Mental Floss has a post about Little Known Second Verses of Children’s Songs. I love the site because it’s chock full of trivia. I’m hoping one day it’ll help me beat James in Trivia Pursuit.
Well, it’s off to the coal mine. Enjoy your Sunday. Take a nap for me.

Wordless Wednesday
You’ll never catch me in one, but they are so pretty.

Project Update Monday
First I’m so sorry for not sharing anything yesterday. I had to work, and by the time I got home, helped with supper, got the kids bathed, and ate supper, I just crashed on the couch. At one point I ended up on the floor, praying for the motivation to get up and take a shower. It came in the form of a thunderstorm. That’s one way to get a quick shower. Race the thunderclaps. So that left me no time to share anything with you on Sunday.
But now it’s Monday, and I have some projects to show you.
I went to the all-day crop on Saturday. I had an awesome time, visited with friends, met some very nice ladies, and came away with a lot of goodies. Oh! You didn’t know about the goodies? First they give you chocolate. Then they put things on sale like crazy. Then they auction stuff. And then they give away door prizes. ALL DAY. It’s the best!
I came away with a lot of goodies, but I haven’t taken pictures of those yet. But I did take pictures of my layouts. I have to say it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. Of course I was surrounded by very talented ladies who encouraged me along the way. I’m happy with my layouts and can’t wait to do some more.
Enjoy the pictures!

My New Mantra
Is there something you HAVE to do but don’t WANT to do? Or is that just me?
For instance, right now, I don’t WANT to go do the dishes. So I’m sitting here on the couch with James as he flips between WWE and American Pickers/Pawn Stars, catching up on my blog reading and drafting this post.
I also have laundry to switch out. I need to take my medicine and a shower.
Well that doesn’t sound so bad.
But I’m warm and cozy.
Back to what I don’t want to do. I hem and haw. I procrastinate. I plan. I do a lot of things to detract from the chore I should just get out of the way but don’t.
I’m a recovering procrastinator. And my new mantra to help me along the way:
15 Minutes
I know I’ve mentioned FlyLady before, and she’s turned me onto the idea that I can accomplish a lot if I would just commit myself to 15 minutes – just 15 Minutes of whatever I’m avoiding and then I’m free to choose to stop or keep going. How liberating!
The 15 Minute Magic has taken over at my house. Not only am I using it, but I’m using it on the children too. Jumpshot has reading goals at school, and he’s always resisted reading. So to get him to complete his books, I set a timer for 15 minutes, and at the top of every hour, he has to read for 15 minutes. He’s always amazed how quickly it goes by and how much he’s read.
I use it to gather the kids for quick cleaning sessions. Even James used it a couple days ago. It’s catching on like wildfire.
So my plan is to trade in my Queen of Procrastination crown for a Queen of 15 Minutes crown. I never thought I’d see the day.
Give it a try and see what you can accomplish in 15 Minutes. Celebrate your successes below!
Don’t Wake the Kids is a blog featuring Sally and sometimes James, a husband and wife team, talking about their life – the good, the bad, and the ugly. Together, they will put their life on display, imperfections and all, with the hope that you will find it uplifting, entertaining, and amusing.
About Sally
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a mother. God blessed me with three wonderful children, who keep me going. My husband and I have been married for almost 12 years, and he’s my best friend.
I work full-time outside of the home and try to volunteer as much as I can at my children’s school. I love to bake and accidentally found out about cakepops, and I can’t stop making them. I love to scrapbook, when I find the time, but I’m still intimidated by 12×12 layouts. I also like to crochet, but I’ve only made scarves. I use it to pass the time while waiting at the doctor’s office or practice or for meetings to start.
I try to have it all, and I hope my blog lends support to other moms who mess up, want to pull out their hair, but who wouldn’t want to trade their lives for anything – just like me.
People ask me how do I do it all. I am always flattered by this, and my answer is always the same – I don’t sleep. I only get a lot done after everyone falls asleep. James came up with the name of our blog Don’t Wake The Kids because of my nocturnal nature.
