Don't Wake The Kids

And Other Rules for Motherhood

Weekly Wrap-Up

How was my first week of 2011? Extremely busy!

The kids went back to school. I worked close to 50 hours this week. I shuttled kids to basketball practice and art class. And I rounded out the week with a doctor’s visit for a checkup. So last night, I crashed around 7:30 p.m. The kids crashed early too.

Highlights of the week:

  • Diva informed me she likes to do the dishes and mop. She also likes to spray and wipe the table and do laundry. Well if she’s willing to do some work, this mom is taking advantage of it.
  • Jumpshot scored a basket in his basketball game. He is also learning new card tricks.
  • Manchild is having a better time going to school. And he ended up in our bed only one night this week.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s had a hectic and exhausting week, so I’d like to share the one thing that always makes us laugh at the DWTK House: Manchild announcing he is done on the potty. Click on the link and give a listen.

Wipe My Booty

Hope you had a moment to laugh this week. If you didn’t, feel free to use mine.

Theme for 2011

004 A new year, a clean slate. Full of possibilities.

As you may have noticed, I took a break from blogging – from writing posts and from reading ones as well. I have missed it immensely.

Today, I took a point to catch up on my favorite blogs, and as I imagined most of them centered on New Year’s goals, resolutions, and themes.

I have been reflecting on what I’d like to accomplish this coming year. I have so many ideas.

5 Minutes for Mom has inspired me to simply sum up my 2011 aspirations into one word.

So here it is. My word for 2011 is

SIMPLIFY

The constant theme I hear is that I try to take on too much. It’s  as if I think I’m Superwoman or something. ;)

So for 2011, I’m going to focus on simplifying things in my life. It’s a lofty goal. I imagine it’ll be a lot like cleaning out a cabinet: you first have to make a mess to get it all straight.

Well here’s to 2011. I hope it brings you all many blessings.
